First Grand Championship...Sort Of
So while cooking three pork shoulders, some sausage, a rack of ribs and a corned beef yesterday, a special surprise arrived in the mail...my monthly subscription to the Kansas City BBQ Society's BullSheet newsletter.
It's always fun flipping through to see what names I recognize from various contests across the country, and every so often I get to see Smoke In Da Eye. This month, we were included as fourth overall in Monmouth County NJ and we were listed as the GRAND CHAMPS at New Holland, PA's SummerFest!
While certainly an honor to rank tops amongst 72 of the county's top teams, unfortunately I came in 17th overall (still respectable out of 72 teams, I think) with a first place victory for the second year in a row in the sausage category. Anywhoooo, congrats again to PA Midnight Smokers, Who Are Those Guys? and the others who really did make up the top five. Maybe next year!
