Even more great ways to cut contest costs

As a followup to my recent cost cutting post, here's a few more ideas from my friends at www.bbq-brethren.com :

From Kickassbbq:  #11 Go to McDonalds and buy McRibs. Ya got GREAT BBQ for very little money.
Timcardz:  #12 Ask the public for samples as they pass by your site.
Sledneck: #13 put out a tip jar when handing out samples
Holysmoke:  #14 - Charge $5 a head for tour of bbq site with a $3 raffel for free samples...
Timzcardz:  #15 - Forget competing. Just go and hang with firends that are competing and grub BBQ off of them!
BBQMafia:  #16 Hold your own contest at home and compete against yourself.
This will save money and increase your chances of winning.

And a few more from Smoke In Da Eye:

17. Skip the boiling stage of ribs prep, thus saving on water and gas

18. Fashion spam into brisket-like slices

19. Visit the famous dave's take out counter "for a menu" while your kids swipe pockets full of free sauce packets

20. Put up a "get your picture taken with famous dave" sign at your site and have grandpa joe pose for $5 pictures with strangers

21. Recycle, rinse and resell used turn-in boxes to local takeout joints

22.  Ask for extra lettuce with your McRib, therefore taking care of the meat AND the garnish
