Joe the Plumber Loves BBQ

Earlier today, John McCain sat with several small business owners at Buckingham Smokehouse BBQ in Missouri, while Barack Obama spent part of the afternoon yesterday stumping at Cape Fear BBQ and Chicken in North Carolina.

So is it the candidates' never ending desire to connect with "Joe the Plumber" and "Joe Sixpack" that keeps em coming back for more?

No, it's deeper than that, my friends.   Barbeque is America's food and the White House is OUR house.  For those a bit older than me, you might recall the infamous barbeques LBJ would host on the lawn of the White House each year.  In fact, do a quick Google search and you are certain to find countless sites with recipes for his favorite BBQ sauce.

Then who can forget the over-the-top, $40 million inauguration party Dubya threw the last go around, featuring some 3,000 pounds of barbeque beef.  Even ol' George Washington was known to enjoy a good barbeque in his day, most likely a whole hog cooked in a pit over (what else?) cherry wood, finished with a tangy vinegar hot sauce.

Regardless of who is elected in a few short weeks, what happens to the economy long term, or how the war in Iraq eventually ends, there is one thing we can all agree on....Slow cooked meat makes people, republican or democrat, happy!
