Firing Up Some New Kingsford Charcoal

I hate the cold.  The bulky jackets, the sloppy snow, losing a fingertip while trying to light a charcoal chimney in subdegree weather...It all sucks.

That said, I got a brief break from the frigid New York City weather, traveling to mid-town to a product launch event for Kingsford charcoal.  The event featured a familiar face from the competition scene, Chris Lilly, cooking up some of his award winning pork shoulder, ribs and other tasty treats on the roof of an 11 story building.

Although I wasn't able to stay long, I got to check out the new charcoal brew, certain to have me messing with my use of traditional Kingsford in the grills and cookers next Spring (more on that a bit later).  I also got to say hello to some good friends from Wildwood, Brother Jimmys BBQ, Pigmaker Productions, Purple Turtle and more.

And when I left this BBQ oasis in the middle of this bustling metropolis?  Freaking snow flurries!  I hate the cold.
