TGI Fryday: Spamsicles

Welcome to TGI Frydays!  Can I take your order?  Actually, this week there's only one item on our menu, the fried Spamsicle.

Each Spamsicle was made by carefully cutting Spam (canned spiced ham) into 1/4-1/2 inch slices, impaling them with a six inch skewer, dipping in seasoned flour, then beaten egg then Panko (Japanese bread crumbs).  Deep fry at 350 degrees for approximately 8 minutes until golden brown, remove and rest on paper towels.  Enjoy!

SmokeInDaEye Tip:  The Spamsicles can be served upright by sticking skewers into half an apple.

You know it's truly Summer when the whole world starts clamoring for Spamsicles, aka the deep fried Spam on a stick we created here.

As mentioned the other day, we were honored to have our salty, Panko crusted concoction end up on WomansDay.com late last week and came to discover shortly there after that the Spamsicle has actually been making quite the rounds lately -- from such favorites as This Is Why You're Fat to FoodBeast.com to BuzzFeed.com.

But enough with the Spam already.

While our world famous TGI Fryday is on official summer hiatus, it is with much delight that we announce the inclusion of SmokeInDaEye.com's very own Spamsicle on the immensely popular "This Is Why You're Fat" website.
