Grillin on the Bay 2010
The 2010 contest season is back in full swing following our successful completion of the Fifth Annual Grillin on the Bay contest in Brooklyn. And while we were unable to retake our crown, the fact that we were able to get all four categories done, three of which were brand new recipes, despite a day that started off in the mid-30s (envision garnish with ice crystals and blue fingertips) was quite an accomplishment in my mind.
This year's contest featuring a record 27 teams, including many top teams from the circuit and a few restaurant type folks. In the end, we finished a rather respectable 6th overall, with calls for 3rd place ribs and 10th place chef's choice (lobster stuffed tenderloin with bourbon and brown sugar sweet potatoes pictured below).
And for those of you who are interested, #@!*#@ sausage stuffed $#@!* muffin pan chicken is only good enough for 14th place! Congratulations to Blazin Buttz on the victory and thanks to all of the judges for braving the temperatures.
