Half Baked Grilling

Last year we had the opportunity to test drive the convection grill plate from the fine folks at Grill Innovations , producing a picture perfect batch of enchiladas on the gas grill (Check out the review here ).

And while we have continued to enjoy the multitude of dishes that can be baked to perfection on the grill with the original plate, we were delighted to learn that a round one was in the works especially for kettles, ceramic cookers and other round charcoal grills.  Always ones to try something new on the grill, we decided to take a prototype for a spin and found it to work as well as the original while allowing us to bake over a live wood fueled flame.

After getting the grill to your desired temperature, simply place the plate in the center of the main grill grate and add your dish, in this case a two quart dish of corn, bacon and roasted poblano casserole (our modified take on Paula Deen's recipe found here ).  Cover the grill and bake as you would in the oven for perfect results every time!

For now the round plates are by special order only but we are pleased to announce that the price on the original rectangular one is now only $69.95, a cost effective way to add an entirely new dimension to your outdoor cooking!
