Avocados with a Side of Fried

Sure regular avocados rock, but what if you took them up a notch by battering and deep frying them?  In honor of TGI Fryday , Chef Eric Gruber of Shore Lodge in snowy McCall, Idaho did just that and was kind enough to share the recipe with up.  Check out Chef's tempura fried avocado salad, certain to warm your heart and soul after a long day on the slopes!

Tempura-Fried Avocado

INGREDIENTS
All-purpose flour -- 1 cup
Cornstarch -- 1/2 cup
Baking powder -- 1/2 tsp
Egg yolk -- 1 each
Club soda, cold -- 1 cup

DIRECTIONS
Sift the flour, cornstarch, and baking powdertogether in a large bowl. Slowly stir in egg yolk and club soda. Mixuntil thoroughly blended. Quarter 1 avocado and peel. Dredge a quarterof the avocado in cornstarch and dip into batter. Drop into a fryer at350 degrees Fahrenheit and fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.

    This looks great. Our favorite local Mexican place makes the most obscene fried avocado dish:

    Aguacate Relleno - Avocado Stuffed with your choice of grilled chicken, steak or shrimp, wrapped in monterey jack cheese, lightly breaded and fried.

    My wife loves them. Looks like they cut it in half, remove the seed, and stuff.
